In 1986 Wayne landed the lead trumpet position with the Maynard Ferguson Band. Remarking on the talented trumpet player, Maynard Ferguson commented, Wayne is the most musical lead trumpet player Ive ever had on my band. Currently Wayne is enjoying a career as one of the most active players on the LA scene. He has worked on over 250 TV and motion picture soundtracks, including Sweet Home Alabama, Catch Me if You Can, Undercover Brother, John Q, Analyze This, Ace Ventura, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Meet Joe Black. He has also played on hundreds of TV and radio jingles.
Waynes passion for big bands has landed him a seat in some of LAs most well respected bands. He has recorded with Quincy Jones, Bob Florence, Pat Williams, Gordon Goodwin, Sammy Nestico, Jack Sheldon, Ralph Carmichael, Frank Capp, Matt Cattingub, Bill Liston, Kim Richmond, Tom Kubis, Ray Anthony, Roger Neumann, Bill Perkins, Bill Elliott, Chris Walden, Gary Irwin, Bill Watrous and Bob Curnow.
Wayne has been involved with hundreds of recording projects that include Chicago, Diane Reeves, Celine Dion, Billy Joel, Diana Krall, Mel Torme, Barry Manilow, Arturo Sandoval, Robbie Williams, Keeley Smith, Ronnie Milsap, Lee Ann Womack, Green Day, The Offspring, Bobby Caldwell, Rosemary Cloony, Diane Schuur, Brain Setzer, Joe Cocker, Eric Marienthal, John Tesh, Dave Koz, David Benoit, Warren Hill, and Tito Puente.
Wayne is currently on staff at California State University Northridge where he still manages to find time to teach privately. His first solo Big Band CD, You Call this a Living?, was nominated for a Grammy and features many of L.A.s finest musicians.
